DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held the mastermind of Kishorgonj Sonali Bank branch robbery along with five sacks money from the city on Tuesday afternoon.  

The detainee--Habib alias Sohel—was held from a house with looted money amounted over 16.19 crore in Shampur area of Kadamtali Thana.   

RAB officials briefed the journalists Tuesday evening after quizzing Habib. In the briefing, RAB Director General Mukhlesur Rahman claimed that Habib had been planning to loot the bank for two years. He looted the bank drugging a tunel to the bank money vault from his rented house.

RAB sources said he has been living Kishoreganj after losing his everything by river erosion in Patuakhali, village house of the accused. Habib rented a house in the town to make his plan a success although he used to live in Naoa area of the district.
 
Before coming back from a Middle Easter country in 2012, Habib worked as a tunnel digger there, sources added.
