Hackers loot Tk 1.9cr from Sonali

DHAKA: Banks and Financial Institutions Division secretary Dr M Aslam Alam revealed that hackers looted Tk 1.95 crores in 2013 hacking Sonali Bank server.

He came up with the disclosure while addressing an annual conference of Sonali Bank Limited at a city hotel on Saturday.

The secretary said that the hackers looted the money which is a great threat to banking security.

In the conference, Finance Minister Dr AMA Muhith said, due to internal control weakness, the Hall-Mark fraud case was happened in 2012.

Meanwhile, the finance minister ordered to strengthen the internal security system in preventing such type of banking scandals.

With Sonali Bank Chairman of the Board of Director Dr AHM Habibur Rahman in the chair, the conference was attended, among others, by Managing Director Prodip Kumar Dutta and high ups of the bank.
