Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) will revamp the country's jewellery industry under the leadership of its President Sayem Sobhan Anvir.
Dr Dilip Kumar Roy, former BAJUS president and chairman of District Monitoring Standing Committee made the remark at a view-exchange meeting organised by BAJUS Patuakhali district unit at Atahar Uddin Auditorium on Monday (May 16).
"BAJUS is working to implement the Prime Minister's gold policy. As per rules, we have to manufacture gold ornaments from our own factory. Under the leadership of our new President, we will revolutionize the jewelery industry in this country," said Dr Roy.
He underscored the need for establishing jewellery industry and ornament factory to implement gold policy, adding that BAJUS led by its president has been working to this effect.
Masudur Rahman, assistant secretary and vice-chairman of BAJUS Standing Committee on Law and Membership, said there are a lot of potentials in the jewellery sector in Bangladesh, but the same remained stagnant for long. Sayem Sobhan Anvir has brought gold business to the life, he said.
“Gold traders from across the country are being united under an umbrella responding to the call of BAJUS president. There is no alternative to being united to keep the business afloat,” he added.
Joynal Abedin Khokon, Member Secretary of BAJUS Standing Committee on District Monitoring, said that all jewellers will have to do business together in the days to come. There will be no room for illegal traders to do business. So, all gold traders have to be members of BAJUS.”
He said the national identity card, photo and mobile number of the customers should be included in the memo while selling gold ornaments.
BAJUS Patuakhali District Branch President Bipul Kanti Das and General Secretary Subal Kanti presided over the programme while assistant Secretary and Vice-Chairman of BAJUS Standing Committee on Law and Membership Masudur Rahman, Member of BAJUS Standing Committee on District Monitoring Pabitra Chandra Ghosh, Standing Committee on District Monitoring Assistant Secretary and Member Secretary, Joynal Abedin Khokon, BAJUS Standing Committee on Law and Membership Executive Member and Member Secretary, Ripnul Hasan, among others, addressed the programme.
