Maintaining the market's stability, banks will regulate the US dollar price.
In this regard an instruction was given to banks of the country by the Bangladesh Bank (BB), on Thursday (June 2).
Executive Director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank Sirajul Islam said the banks may fix dollar price keeping consistency of the market and considering demand. The central bank, however, will monitor the market.
Earlier on Sunday last, Bangladesh Bank fixed dollar price at Tk 89. The dollar price was fixed at Tk 89.20 in terms of bringing remittance from abroad.
After fixation of dollar price, the volume of remittance of the country has declined in May. Several banks faced crisis to meet up import bill. Many exporters were refrained from paying bills at fixed prices.
