Leaders of the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) said the organisation’s President Sayem Sobhan Anvir takes measures to stop persecution of legal gold traders.
They were addressing a programme of the BAJUS organised to mark AGM of Kushtia unit committee and orientation of new office bearers on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, former President of BAJUS and Chairman of Standing Committee on District Monitoring Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said the organisation’s President and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has taken steps to stop harassment of legitimate and member jewellers.
‘All members of the country’s gold industry are united under the leadership of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir. Under his able and strong leadership, the BAJUS family is moving forward. A new chapter will be written in coming days in the gold industry under his leadership,” he said.
BAJUS Central Committee is working towards achieving the goal and all members of the organisation will enjoy benefit of the current effort, he added.
He called upon all members and stakeholders to work in line with strengthening the hand of the BAJUS President for collective interest.
The programme was held at the Auditorium of Kushtia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Outgoing president of BAJUS Kushtia district unit Abdul Gani presided over the meeting. Ruhul Amin Russell, Advisor of BAJUS and Business Editor of Daily Bangladesh Pratidin, Ripnul Hasan, BAJUS Executive Member and Member Secretary of Standing Committee on Law and Membership, Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Member of Standing Committee on District Monitoring, attended the meeting as the special guests.
The event was moderated by the general secretary of BAJUS Kushtia unit Kamal Ahmed Karim. The leaders of the outgoing committee handed over the charge to the newly elected committee at the meeting.
Later, the newly- elected members of the committee and central leaders were presented with crests.
Over 100 gold traders of the district participated in the programme. Bijon Karmakar and Kamal Ahmed Karim took charge as president and general secretary of Kushtia district committee.
