Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers, Distributors, Agents and Petrol Pump Owners' Association have postponed their strike till September 12.
Nazmul Haque, president of the association, came up with the announcement after a meeting with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) in the capital on Monday (Aug 29).
He said the petrol pump owners have deferred the strike at the request of the BPC.
Nazmul Haque further said that we postponed our strike for 15 days.
He threatened to go on a nationwide strike from September 14 if their demands are not met by this time.
On August 24, the association leaders threatened to go on strike on August 31 if their 5-point demands are not met within next 7 days.
They sought an increase of commission on fuel sales of 7%, as part of their five-point demand.
Besides, they also demanded that only BPC, the Energy Ministry and distribution companies will be allowed to check the documents of petrol pumps.
