The government has decided to cut the prices of fuel including diesel, octane, petrol and kerosene by Tk 5 per litre.
State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid confirmed the matter on Monday (Aug 29) night.
He said the notification will be announced soon in this regard.
Earlier today, he said the government will adjust fuel prices within one or two days.
On August 28, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) reduced import tariff on diesel by 11.25 percentage points in order to cut import cost of the key fuel.
According to the fresh notification by the NBR, total tax on import of diesel the major import items among petroleum, would be 22.75 percent from 34 per cent.
According to the new price, diesel price will come down to Tk109 per litre, octane to Tk130, petrol to Tk139 and kerosene to Tk109 per litre respectively.
Earlier on August 6, the government had increased prices of fuel by up to 51.7 percent, the highest in the country's history.
