Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) on Thursday (Sep 8) demanded the security for the gold traders across the country.
The trade body appeared to press in protest against the killing of a jeweller by a group of miscreants in Chattogram's Patiya upazila on Tuesday.
On behalf of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir, executive committee members placed the demand at a press briefing at its head office at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex in the capital.
Enamul Haque Khan, Chairman of BAJUS standing committee on anti smuggling and law enforcement, read out the written statement.
BAJUS Former President Dilip Kumar Roy, vice president Gulzar Ahmed and standing committee member secretary Ikbal Uddin were also present on the occasion.
The BAJUS leaders demanded security of gold traders who experienced attack and robbery in respective areas.
They demanded exemplary punishment of the killers of the gold traders including recent incident in Chattogram.
