The decision to keep educational institutions open on Saturdays, as a means to make up the syllabuses following a 9-day closure prompted by an extreme heatwave, will be lifted after Eid-ul-Azha.
Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury made the announcement at a press conference at the Ministry of Education on Sunday (May 12) afternoon.
When asked about keeping schools open on Saturday, the Education Minister said, “Since we missed classes about 9 days due to the heat wave, we are trying to make up the classes on Saturday. But this is not a permanent decision.”
