7 DU students suspended, sued

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Dhaka University authority suspended seven students for indefinite period for their alleged involvement in torturing a first year student Al-Amin physically in the name of ragging.

The suspended students are- --Shaheen (Philosophy), Shakil, (Urdu), Ashik (English), Mehedi (Public Administration), Mamun, (English), Liton (Tourism & Hospitality Management) and Jafar.

Besides, the authority also filed a case against the second year’s students.

Acting Proctor Professor Dr AM Amjad confirmed the matter to banglanews on Friday night.

He said that the students have been suspended for indefinite period. A probe committee will be formed soon to look into the matter. After getting probe report, the suspension period will be fixed. 

Earlier on Friday night, mentioning seven names, victim’s brother filed a case with Shahbagh Thana.

On Thursday night, the accused students attacked first year student of Bangabandhu Hall over a trifle matter, leaving Al-Amin critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital ICU.

Then, he was shifted to general cabin from ICU.
