Arms, ammo seized from CU

CHITTAGONG: Police, in a drive, recovered six cocktails, five machetes, 15 pipes used for making pipe gun and huge amount of raw materials required in making ammunitions from a building of Chittagong University area on Wednesday evening.

The law enforcers also seized around two hundreds Jihadi books from the building.

Officer-in-charge of Hathazari Thana M Ismail told banglanews that they conducted the drive in a building ‘Khatib Manjil’ in the area around 6:30pm and seized the arms and ammunitions.

The OC also said former president of University unit Chhatra Shibir Ashek Ullah and his fellows used to live in that building. 

However, no one was present during the drive, he added.

Meanwhile, law enforcers detained 16 suspected Shibir activists till 7:30pm who are allegedly connected cocktail thrown on CU teachers, Ismail added.

At least 16 people, including 12 teachers of Chittagong University, sustained injuries in crude bomb attacks by Islami Chhatra Shibir on two buses carrying the teachers on Wednesday morning.
