Indefinite strike begins at SUST

SYLHET: Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, is enforcing indefinite strike at the university from Thursday morning, protesting the attack on a BCL leader. 

SUST Chhatra League Vice-president Anjan Roy on Wednesday around 11:33pm called the strike. 

Earlier on Wednesday, miscreants attacked Chhatra League leader Uttam Kumar Das, 30, a student of masters’ level of Social welfare department and also former joint secretary of metropolitan Chhatra League with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured.  

Later, the injured was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka National Institute Of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital). 

Following the incident, Chhatra League leader and activists blocked Sylhet-Sunamganj road and vandalized some vehicles. 

Later, with the assurance local administration and Awami League leaders Chhatra League activists withdrew the blockade.
