BRAHMANBARIA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Friday announced to distribute four crores text books free among 4.44 crores students in January next.

The minister made the announcement after inaugurating the Sheikh Hasina Academic Building at Brahmanbaria Government College.

Nurul Islam Nahid said: “The government observes ‘Boi Utsab’ on January 1 every year. This year also the ‘Boi Utsab’ will be observed on January 1.”

The scenario of female education in the country has been developed remarkably, he added.

Vice Chancellor of National University (NU) Professor Dr Harun-Ar-Rashid said, they have opened Masters Courses of five honours disciplines’ in the college.

Masters courses of rest seven disciplines including preliminary will be opened shortly, he added.

With the Principal of the college Professor Hanif in the chair, AM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP, Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Professor Fahima Khatun, among others, also spoke in the program.
