DHAKA UNIVERSITY: The 49th convocation of Dhaka University (DU) will be held on January 13.

All those eligible Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students of varsity were asked to apply between November 3 and November 11 to get original certificates at the convocation.

The decision came from a meeting over the convocation program in DU Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Sunday.

In the meeting, they formed an executive committee, a management committee and 25 sub-committees to observe the program efficiently.

DU vice chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the meeting where pro vice-chancellor (education) professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, pro vice chancellor (administration) professor Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Treasurer professor Dr Kamal Uddin and among others were present in the meeting.

Professor Francis Gurry, Director general of The World Intellectual Property Organization) (WIPO), will deliver his speech as the Convocation Speaker where he will be honored with Doctor of Law, said DU sources.

President Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, will preside over the convocation.
