Educationist Prof Zillur Rahman passes away

DHAKA: Prominent educationist and author Professor Zillur Rahman Siddiqui passed away at his Banani residence in city Tuesday night. He was 85.

Senior Medical Assistant of Samorita Hospital Rabindra Haldar told banglanews ZR Siddiqui died around 11:45pm.

He left his wife, three sons and a daughter to mourn his death.

The prominent educationist was honored with ‘Alaol Puroshkar’ in 1977, Bangla Academy Award in 1979 and Swadhinata Award in 2010.

Zillur Rahman was born on February 23 in 1928 in Jhenaidah district. He got admission in Kolkata Presidency College after passing matriculation from Jessore Zila School in 1945.

Later, he completed BA and MA degree in English Literature from Dhaka University and stated teaching at Dhaka College after achieving higher degree from Oxford University.
