DHAKA: Teachers put forward an 11-point charter on Saturday demanding nationalization of all non-government secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and vocational institutions to reduce discrimination in education sector.

Teachers under the banner of Bangladesh Teachers’ Association (BTA) pressed their demands at a press conference in National Press Club in the city.

BTA president Principal MA Auwal Siddique read out the demands there.

They demanded unconditional inclusion of teachers of all non-government secondary schools, colleges, madrasas and vocational institutions in newly-proposed pay scales within July 1, 2015.

Their other demands included formation of “Separate Public Service Commission” to recruit non-government teachers, formation of “Separate Secondary Education Directorate” to avoid administrative complexities and delay and increase the job age of non-government teachers and employees to 65 years.

Auwal said they will hold rally and stage demonstration in all upazilas across the country on March 12 unless their demand are met by March.
