87.04pc pass in SSC

DHAKA: The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations have been published Saturday morning with overall pass percentage of 87.04 per, which is 4.3 percent lower than that of last year.
 
A total of 1,282,618 students passed this year examinations. Of them, some 111,901 students secured GPA-5. Some 5,095 institutions showed cent percent success.

Among the general boards, Rajshahi board topped the list in pass percentage with 94.07 percent success. Dhaka posted 88.65 percent pass, Comilla 84.22, Chittagong 82.77, Dinajpur 85.05, Barisal 84.37, Jessore 84.02 and Sylhet board 81.82.

Some 15,873 students obtained GPA-5 in Rajshahi Board, while 36,801 in Dhaka; 7,116 in Chittagong; 10,195 in Comilla; 7,116 in Dinajpur; 3,171 in Barisal; 2,052 in Sylhet; and 7,181 in Jessore Board.

Madrasa board showed 90.02 percent pass while Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has 83.01 percent pass rate.

Under the eight general education boards, a total of 961,405 students passed this year’s examinations with 86.72 percent success while 93,631 got GPA-5.

Some 254,622 students passed in Madrasha board. Of them, 11,338 secured GPA-5. However, some 6,931 students got GPA-5 in BTEB.

Earlier, Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, accompanied by the chairmen of all education boards, handed over the copies of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gonobhaban at 10:00am.

The premier joined a video conference with the students of two institutions there to talk about their results.

However, the minister formally unveiled the results at a press conference at secretariat around 1:00pm.

Students can visit the www.educationboardresults.gov.bd website and at the websites of the education boards concerned to get their results.

Candidates can also get the result by sending SMS  to 16222 typing 'SSC' followed by a space then first 3 letters of the respective education board another space then roll number followed by space again then '2015'. For example: SSC<>DHA<>123456<>2015 and send to 16222.

Candidates of the Madrasa board have to type ‘DAKHIL’ instead of ‘SSC’ and follow others directions as usual. For example: DHKHIL<>MAD<>123456<>2015 and send to 16222.

Each SMS will cost Tk 2.30 including VAT (value added tax).

Education institutions can also download the results from the same website - www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.

No results will be available at Education Ministry, education boards and newspapers offices.

The SSC and its equivalent examinations for 2015 began on February 6 instead of February 2.

Schedule of the examinations had hit frequently faced delays due to a nationwide road-water-railway blockade for indefinite period sponsored by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Written tests ended on June 6 instead of scheduled date on March 30. The practical tests were held between March 29 and April 2.

This year, a total of 1,473,594 students participated in the examinations from across the country.

Over the past several years, government has been publishing the results within next 60 days since the tests ended. This year, June 2 will fall on the 60th day since the tests ended on April 2.
