City University holds intra varsity computer prog contest

DHAKA: “Intra University Computer Programming Contest, Summer-2015”, held at City Campus, City University in the capital’s Kamal Ataturk Avenue.

Organized by City University Programming Club (CUPC), the event was held at the department of computer science and engineering of City University from 10:00 am to 1 pm on Thursday. 

A total of 11 teams consist of three members from two departments, dept of CSE and dept of EEE took part.

Contestants were given 8 problems to solve within 2 hours 30 minutes of time in the final round of the contest.

Participants in the event compete as team wise to demonstrate their programming skill and problem-solving abilities. The contestants attempt to solve eight programming problems within a two hour thirty minutes time.

All solutions to the problems coded in Java or C++. PC2 (the Programming Contest Control system) is a software system designed to support programming contest operations in a variety of computing environments. PC2 allows contestants (teams) to submit programs over a network to contest judges.

 The judges can recompile the submitted program, execute it, view the source code and/or execution results, and send a response back to the team. The system also supports an "automated judging" mode where judging is performed by software rather than by human judges.

Team Cu_DotZero from City Campus stood first position in the rank list of the contest by solving 3 problems. The contestants of this team are Reduanur Rahman Rafi, Mahmud Rayhan and Md. Shohanur Rahaman. Team CU_stdio.h from City Campus acquired 2nd Position by solving 1 problem. The contestants of this team are Md. Didarul Islam and ASM Humaun Kabir. Another team from Permanent Campus Team_Triangle stood third. The contestants of this team are Md. Nazmul Hasan, Gopal Shaha, Sheikh Shahrier Islam.

Registrar of City University Md. Sakhawat Hossain attended at the prize distribution ceremony.

Among others Safaet Hossain, Head department of computer science and engineering, coordinator department of CSE, CUPC moderators, CUCC moderators, CUPC mentors & executives, CUCC mentors & executives, distinguished faculty members, students were present at the prize distribution session.

In his short speech, Safaet Hossain mentioned that this type of contest will be organized by City University department of CSE in every semester over and over again.
