DHAKA: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) observed National Mourning Day and 41st martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A discussion on the glorious life and contributions of Bangabandhu was organized at IUB Campus in city’s Bashundhara on Tuesday (August 16).

Bangla Academy director general Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan as chief guest spoke on the versatile life and contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release.

Trustee Member of Liberation War Museum Mafidul Haque as special guest discussed on the struggles and roles of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and highlighted the significance of liberation war to the audience.

IUB vice-chancellor Professor M Omar Rahman chaired the discussion also attended by Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dr Mahbub Alam.
