Aupee embarks on big screen comeback after 14 years Aupee Karim

DHAKA: Popular actress Aupee Karim was last seen in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki directed 2004 film ‘Bachelor’, which was the last big screen appearance for her.

The versatile actress is now awaiting comeback through ‘Debris of Desire’, ending the long hiatus of 14 years.

The film is being produced jointly by Bangladesh and India, based on two short stories of Manik Bandopadhyay—‘Bishakto Prem’ and ‘Subala’. 

The film is being directed by Indranil RoyChowdhury from Kolkata. Jashim Ahmed from Bangladesh is jointly producing the film with him.  

Initially, the film has been titled ‘Mayar Jonjal’, in Bengali.

The title, however, could be changed, said sources from the director. 

‘Debris of Desire’ is said to be the first film to get approval under the revised policy of joint venture film, sources from the producers told banglanews.

In the film, Aupee will be seen playing the role of ‘Soma’, a married woman in Kolkata. A popular actor from Kolkata will be seen as her husband. Names of the other casts including of him haven’t been disclosed yet.

However, Aupee is now in Kolkata for the shooting. Shot will be taken in Dhaka too.
