JAMALPUR: Eminent Dhallywood filmmaker Amjad Hossain was laid to eternal rest beside his parents at the central graveyard in his hometown Jamalpur Sunday (Dec 23). 

A namaj-e-janaja was held on Iqbalpur New High School Field in the town, around 11pm.

The ‘Golapi Ekhon Train-e’ famed director breathed his last at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok on the evening of Dec 14.

The body was flown to Dhaka on Friday (Dec 21).

People from all walks of life including fans, followers, colleagues and showbiz personalities paid last tribute to the veteran at Central Shaheed Minar and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Saturday (22). A namaj-e-janaja was also held at the BFDC.

The body was taken to his home in Iqbalpur of Jamalpur, at the night.

Amjad Hossain was 76. He was awarded National Film Award twice, Bangla Academy Literary Award and Ekushey Padak for his contribution to Bangla cinema and culture.

Agun Niye Khela (1967), Julekha (1967), Abar Tora Manush Ho (1973), Bhat De (1984), Janmo Theke Jolchhi (1988), Hiramoti (1981) and Dui Poyshar Alta (1988) are some of his notable works.
