DHAKA: Miles band frontman Shafin Ahmed has submitted his nomination form to contest the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral by-elections.

The prominent musician was nominated by Jatiya Party.  

He submitted the form to Election Training Institute (ETI) Returning Officer Md Abul Kashem in Agargaon Wednesday (Jan 30).

While talking to the reporters, Shafin claimed himself a central committee member of Jatiya Party.

Shafin formally joined the party by meeting JP Chairman HM Ershad at the latter’s Baridhara residence on July 19, 2018.

The DNCC mayor post fell vacant following the death of Annisul Huq on Nov 30, 2017.

The by-elections to DNCC is scheduled for Feb 28.
