BOGURA: A Bogura court granted bail to Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam in a case filed by his father-in-law over assaulting his wife for dowry.

Judge of Bogura District and Session Judge Court Naresh Chandra Sarker on Thursday (April 18) passed the order. 

“As the two conflicting families want to settle the issue mutually and Hero Alam’s wife wants to resume their conjugal life, the court granted him to bail,” defense lawyer Masuder Rahman Swapan told Banglanews. 

Earlier on March 6, Police in Bogura detained actor Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, hours after a complaint was filed that he physically tortured his wife.

Alam’s father-in-law Saiful Islam on March 6 had filed a written complaint against him for allegedly beat up his wife for dowry. Later on the day, he was held as he came to Bogura Sadar Police Station to “settle” the issue.

Later, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahriar Tarik on March 7 sent Alam to jail refusing bail petition filed by him.

Alam contested the December 30 national poll as an independent candidate from Bogura-4 and boycotted the elections hours before voting ended alleging irregularities.
