DHAKA: Renowned singer and composer Subir Nandi passed away at a Singapore hospital early on Tuesday (May 7). He was 65.

He breathed his last at Singapore General Hospital at around 4:26am, Dr Rajesh Sikder, husband of Subir Nandi’s daughter Falguni Nandi, told Banglanews. 

Falguni Nandi, who is in Singapore, in her facebook status, wrote “My father is no more.”

Earlier on April 30, Subir Nandi, who had been undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka with cardiac problems for two weeks, was taken to Singapore for better treatment. 

In Singapore hospital, four rings had to be implanted in Subir Nandi’s heart on Saturday (May 4). Later, he had suffered from multiple heart attacks there. 

Meanwhile, Subir Nandi’s health condition deteriorated once again on Monday (May 6) as he had suffered from multiple organ failure, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, who inquired about the singer’s treatment from doctors in Singapore.

As per Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directive, Subir Nandi has been taken to Singapore.

The Ekushey Padak winner singer has been kept at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) since Sunday (April 14).

The 66-year-old singer has been suffering from kidney problems for long. He underwent dialysis on regular basis.

The ‘Din Jaay Katha Thake’ singer served for more than four decades to the country’s music industry.

The veteran was awarded with prestigious Ekushey Padak this year.
