3-day festival at Kuthibari to mark Tagore's birthday

KUSHTIA: A three-day festival was arranged at Shilaidaha Kuthibari in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia, marking the 158th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Kushtia-1 lawmaker AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, as the chief guest, has inaugurated the festival Wednesday (May 8) morning.

Kushtia district administration and the ministry of cultural affairs jointly have organized the program.

On the opening day, a discussion was held on the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore, attended by Director-2 at Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Wahida Musarrat Anita, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) KM Jahirul Islam and chaired by Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Aslam.

Islamic University-Kushtia Bangla Department Professor Sarwar Murshed was the chief discussant.

The festival will remain open from 10am to 4pm each of the three days.
