Humayun Ahmed’s 7th death anniv being marked

DHAKA: The seventh death anniversary of noted litterateur, playwright, director and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed is being observed on Friday (July 19). 

On the occasion, Family of the prominent writer and his fans offered special prayers at the writer's graveyard at Nuhash Palli in the morning. 

Qurankhwani, Milad and Dua Mahfil will be held at Nuhash Palli of Pirujali village in Gazipur where he was laid to rest, sources concerned said.

Besides, different socio-cultural organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes. Private television channels are airing various programmes including drama, talk show, cinemas in memory of Humayun Ahmed.

Humayun Ahmed, one of the most popular writers in Bangali literature, died at Bellevue Hospital in New York City from cancer on July 19, 2012.

Humayun won Lekhak Shibir Prize in 1973, Bangla Academy Award in 1981, Shishu Academy Award, Jainul Abedin Gold Medal, Michael Madhusudan Medal in 1987, Bacsas Prize in 1988, Humayun Qadir Memorial Prize in 1990, National Film Awards (Bangladesh) (Best Story 1993, Best Film 1994, Best Dialogue 1994) (Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Story Writer, 2012, Ekushey Padak in 1994, Sheltech Award in 2007.
