RAJSHAHI: Celebrated singer Andrew Kishore, who breathed his last on July 6, will be buried in Rajshahi on Wednesday (July 15) as his two children returned home from abroad.

The body is now kept in mortuary of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He will be buried at Christian cemetery at Sreerampur area in Rajshahi beside his parents’ according to his final wish after completing rituals in City Church.

His son Jay Andrew Saptok returned back home on July 8 while daughter Minim Andrew Songa on Monday (July 13).

The legendary singer Andrew Kishore passed away on July 6. He was 64.

He breathed his last at 6:55pm while undergoing treatment in his sister Shikha Biswas's house in Rajshahi that also adjoins a small clinic.

Earlier on that day, he was put on oxygen support as his health condition deteriorated.

The health condition of the legendary singer deteriorated quickly after he had returned home from Singapore. 

The singer had been undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital from September last year. After getting discharge certificate from the hospital in Singapore, he returned Dhaka on June 11 by a special flight. After spending one week in Dhaka, he went to Rajshahi, according to family members.

Andrew Kishore was diagnosed with cancer in September last year. He underwent chemotherapy at Singapore General Hospital. After a nine-month battle, he finally returned to Bangladesh from Singapore.

Eight-time National Film Award-winning singer Andrew Kishore is known for evergreen songs including Jiboner Golpo Achhe Baki Olpo, Dak Diyachhen Doyal Amare, Haire Manush Rongin Fanush, Amar Shara Deho Kheyo Go Mati and Amar Buker Moddhe Khane among others.
