4th vaccine dose recommended for above 60 citizens, frontliners

The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 recommended the government to inoculate fourth doses to the citizens above 60, frontliners and pregnant women.

Dr Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the Vaccine Deployment Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said this to media on Wednesday.

He said the government will conduct a week-long special vaccination campaign from December 1 marking the great victory month to administer third dose among around 90 lakh people.

A total of 87 per cent people in the country have received the first vaccine dose, 73 per cent received the second one while 53 per cent the third one.

Covid-19 vaccination programme started in Bangladesh on January 27 in 2021.
