Dengue: 12 dead, 2,129 hospitalised in 24 hours

Dengue: 12 dead, 2,129 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 2,129 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (September 15), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 843 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,286 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 790 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,016 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,875 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 1, 61,964 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 71,503 were in Dhaka and 90,462 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1, 51,283 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 66,940 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 84,343 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
