At least 9 dengue patients died while 2,617 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 5), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 633 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,984 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,055 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,16,864 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 86,496 were in Dhaka and 1, 30,371 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,06,544 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 82,848 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,23,696 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,971 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,294 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
