Dengue death toll rises to 1,064 as 9 more die in 24 hours

At least 9 dengue patients died while 1,800 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 6), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 504 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,296 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,064 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,18,664 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 86,997 were in Dhaka and 1, 31,667 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,08,679 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 83,570 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,25,109 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,752 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 6,169 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
