Dengue death toll rises to 1,109 as 13 more die in 24 hours

At least 13 dengue patients died while 2,555 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 10), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 617 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,938 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,109 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,28,779 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 89,460 were in Dhaka and 1, 39,319 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,19,068 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 86,077 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,32,991 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,683 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,919 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
