Dengue: Death toll reaches 1,181 as 12 more die in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 2,475 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 16), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 539 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,936 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,181 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,42,089 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 92,544 were in Dhaka and 1, 49,545 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,32,759 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 89,418 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,43,341 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,391 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,758 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
