Dengue: Death toll reaches 1,190 as 9 more die in 24 hours

At least nine dengue patients died while 2,609 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 17), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 561 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 2,041 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,190 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,44,698 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 93,105 were in Dhaka and 1, 51,593 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,35,284 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 89,956 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,45,328 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,410 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,814 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
