Dengue: 20 more die, 1,889 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least twenty more dengue patients died while 1,889 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 21), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 412 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,477 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,246 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,52,990 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 95,030 were in Dhaka and 1,57,960 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,43,630 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 91,922 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,51,922 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,341 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,733 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
