Dengue: 12 more die, 1,852 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 12 dengue patients died while 1,852 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (October 24), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 427 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,425 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 1,284 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 2,58,912 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 96,411 were in Dhaka and 1,62,501 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 2,50,082 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 93,521 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 1,56,561 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 2,106 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,440 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered last year.
