Dengue: Two die, 38 hospitalised in 24 hours

Two more dengue patients died while 38 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 14), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 14 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 24 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of seven patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 670 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 251 were in Dhaka and 419 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 424 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 124 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 300 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 121 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 118 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
