One dengue patient died and 32 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 21), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, eight dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 24 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 14 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 853 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 306 were in Dhaka and 547 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 691 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 249 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 442 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 49 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 99 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
