DHAKA: Health minster Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said doctors who have been appointed through the 33rd BCS examination would be posted on-duty at their own upazilas.

Nasim came with the disclosure while inaugurating the Operation Theater of National Institute of Ear, Nose and Throat in the city’s Tejgaon area in the afternoon.

The health minister said, “Doctor and his/her spouse will also be posted at the same upazila.”  

Presided over by director of the Institute Dr Zahidul Islam, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Medical University (BSMMU) vice chancellor Dr Pran Gopal Dutta and Bangladesh Medical Association former secretary general Professor Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed also spoke.

The government appointed some 6,000 new doctors who passed the 33rd BCS exam and will join in the workplace on August 7.
