India logged 38,948 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,30,27,621, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

Besides, the death toll climbed to 4,40,752 with 219 fresh fatalities, the lowest in 167 days. The case fatality rate has declined to 1.33 per cent, according to the data updated at 8 am.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference contacted healthcare workers in Covid vaccination programme in Himachal Pradesh. He said, “10 per cent of the expenditure can be saved if all 11 shots in a single vial are used while administering Covid vaccines.” 

PM Modi also applauded Himachal Pradesh as it is the first state to reach the target of vaccinating 100 per cent of above 18 vaccine candidates.

The union government is determined to vaccinate everyone by December this year under the Covid-19 vaccination programme, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said on Sunday, PTI reported. 

The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running the world’s biggest vaccination programme and have till date vaccinated 69 crore people free of cost, which is a major accomplishment by itself, the Union Culture and Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, said, according to a release.

Tamil Nadu government plans setup 10,000 vaccination camps across the state in order to get 20 lakh people vaccinated in a day, said Ma Subramanian, State Minister for Medical and Family Welfare. The medical department has already accomplished 3.50 crore vaccinations as of Saturday, with a record 6.20 lakh people receiving the jabs.

Partial lockdown in Aizawl Municipal Corporation area has been extended and likewise for other parts of the state till September 18. On Sunday Aizwal reported 967 new cases, with total 63,784 cases in the state.
