ASHULIA, DHAKA: At least 30 readymade garment workers were injured in a clash with police at Ashulia, outskirts of capital Dhaka on Saturday noon.
Industrial police sources said that agitating workers staged protest and vandalized several garments at Jamgara, Burir Bazar, Ghosbagh, Jirabo and Narsinghopur in the noon demanding implementation of new wage structure.
Workers vandalized several vehicles in the area at that time. At one stage, agitating workers blocked Nabinagar-Chandra highway.
On information, police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the workers. But workers locked into clash with police.
Police opened fire teargas shells and rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving 30 people injured.
Industrial police inspector Abdus Sattar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
