DHAKA: The rail communication of south and northern party of the country was halted as hartal supporters removed the fishplates of rail track Lalpur of Natore and Iswardi of Pabna districts on Sunday morning.
Our Natore correspondent reports: Miscreants removed the rail tracks after melting the connection using gas cutters.
Following the incident hundreds of Dhaka-bound train passengers got stranded at Abdulpur railway junction and Muladuli rail station.
Abdulpur Railway Junction station master Abu Saeed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Our Iswardi correspondent reports: Pickets removed rail line near Iswardi bypass rail station at around 4:30am that halted rail communication of northern region.
Rail service suspension on Dhaka-Iswardi, Dhaka-Rajshahi and Khulna-Dhaka routes pushed hundreds of passengers into serious sufferings.
Pakshi divisional railway assistant engineer Abdus Sattar told banglanews, “Train communication will resume after connecting a 20-feet long rail track.”
He said that following the incident, Dhaka-bound Akata Express train remained stranded at Abdullahpur Junction and Rajshahi-bound Padma Express train at Muladuli station.
