DHAKA: Chinese embassy has donated office equipment including computers to a leading voluntary organization which has been serving persons with disabilities as well as preventing avoidable disablement since 1993.
Li Jun, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bangladesh, along with other embassy officials Saturday visited the head office of the local development organization -- Impact Foundation Bangladesh -- to donate computers for better administration and monitoring of various projects run by the foundation.
The Chinese ambassador also visited Impact Foundation`s flagship project "Jibon Tari (Floating Hospital) now moored on the Shitalakhya River in Kaliganj on the outskirts of capital Dhaka.
While inspecting the different facilities on board the floating hospital Li Jun enquired with some patients directly. He praised the work and dedication of the Impact team.
Chairman Impact Foundation Board of Trustees Anwarul Amin, also president of Bangladesh-China People`s Friendship Association (BCPFA), Enam Ahmed Chaudhury and Monsur Ahmed Chowdhury, Impact board of trustees and BCPFA life members, among others, were present on both these occasions.
Li Jun handed over the office equipments including computers to Pradip Sengupta, acting director of the foundation.
"Jibon Tari" has been providing various healthcare services such as cataract, orthopedic, ENT and plastic surgeries for the underserved and marginalized communities living on the river banks of Bangladesh since 1999.
