DHAKA: The National Moon Sighting Committee announced that holy Ashura would be observed across the country on November 15.
The Public Administration Ministry on Sunday declared that the holiday for Ashura had been shifted to November 15 instead of previously declared November 14.
The order also said that the offices and organizations, which are run by own regulations, would declare the holiday according to their own acts.
Ashura is observed on the 10th of Muharram to commemorate the Karbala tragedy in which Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) along with his family members and followers embraced martyrdom.
The day is a public holiday.
