DHAKA: Election Commissioner (EC) Shanewaz on Monday said the general polls lost its beauty when any political party does not participate.

“The elections become attractive when all the political parties take part in it but even a party does not take part normal situation is disrupted,” he said.

The election commissioner came up with the observation while talking to journalists at election commission office in the noon.

The EC told journalists: “The election is affected if parties, people desire, do not participate. The election commission does not have nothing to do without holding polls in due time.”

He added: “Commission is not responsible to ensure all parties participation in the elections.”

Shahnewaz also said election commission is ready for election and expressed hope that the polls would be held in due time.
