DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Badiuzzaman on Monday categorically said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Bill -2013 is controversial with the constitution.
The ACC Chairman came up with the observation at a press conference at her office in city in the afternoon.
Terming the bill as unconstitutional, he said, “The bill passed with a controversial provision as making mandatory for the commission to take permission from the government before filing graft cases against government officials.”
He termed it as interference of commission’s freedom.
Badiuzzaman also said the parliamentary body itself was against curtailing the ACC’s power and the parliament didn’t follow the decision.
On Sunday, the Parliament passed Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Bill-2013 keeping the provision.
