DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) is now active to complete their apparent constitutional duty of holding general elections though political violence and stalemate over the polls-time government issue are yet to be resolved.
As a part of its preparations, EC has sent letters to the deputy commissioners to finalize the list of election officials for the upcoming 10th general elections amid BNP-led 18-party’s announcement of avoidance and protest the polls.
The schedule of next general election is going to be declared in last week of November, election commission sources said.
Election Commissioner M Shahnewaz told banglanews, “We expect to hold a free, fair and participatory election.”
He also said that they have issued letters to the deputy commissioners to finalize the list of election officials by November 25.
Generally the task completes just one or two days ahead of the declaration of polls schedule which means the schedule would be declared by the end of November, he added.
