DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 will pronounce the verdict any day of the cases against Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami as arguments from both sides ended on Wednesday.
The three-member ICT-1 led-by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir said that the closing arguments form the prosecution and the defense have declared ended as defense lawyers were absent for four consecutive days and did not place their arguments.
The judgment will be kept on CAV (curia advisary vult, a Latin legal term meaning court awaits verdict), the tribunal added.
On May 28, 2012, the tribunal indicted the Jamaat ameer for his alleged involvement in committing crimes against humanity in 1971.
On June 29, 2010, Nizami was arrested after a magistrate court in Dhaka issued warrant of arrest in connection with a criminal case over hurting religious sentiment of Muslims.
Later on July 22, the tribunal shown him arrested in connection with the war crimes case.
