DHAKA: A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Thursday seeking its directives to refrain 45 ministers and state ministers from their duties as minister.
On behalf of a journalist, his lawyer Dr Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition with the court.
It was mentioned in the writ that the cabinet members resigned on November 11 and the office of a Minister other than the Prime Minister shall become vacant if he resigns from office by placing his resignation in the hands of the Prime Minister for submission to the President.
It also said: “Those who submitted their resignation letters would not be ministers any longer.”
Some 45 cabinet members including cabinet secretary were made defendant in the petition.
Lawyer Yunus Ali Akand said that the petition will be placed to the High Court Bench comprising Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Khurshid Alam Sarker.
