Bangladesh has launched e-passport services at its High Commission in Islamabad, opening a new chapter in consular assistance for expatriate citizens.
The service was inaugurated on Friday (September 19) by Nasimul Gani, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, who attended the event as the chief guest.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Md Iqbal Hossain Khan, chaired the ceremony. Commander Md Shoaeb Khan, Deputy Project Director of the e-Passport and Automated Border Control Management Project, was a special guest.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and concluded with a special prayer for the country’s continued peace and prosperity. Officials, staff members, and their families from the High Commission, as well as Bangladeshi expatriates, attended the ceremony.
Officials said the introduction of e-passport services in Islamabad would greatly facilitate people-to-people connectivity and strengthen consular support for Bangladeshi citizens living in Pakistan.
